Stephan de Smet and Pieter Bijwaard

Since 1995, graphic designer Stephan de Smet and visual artist Pieter Bijwaard have regularly collaborated. This collaboration has so far resulted in the publication of seventeen books, some of which have been commissioned and partly self-published. De Smet and Bijwaard complement each other in their collaboration. A process of deliberation, of omission and search for what is essential.The bundling of talents from both artists gives the products something special.

Each book starts as a journey, for which the necessary materials are sought or made together. The purpose of the journey is partly determined by spontaneous raids and ideas.The final result of this collaboration is characterized by idiosyncrasy, beauty and expertise.
